ABOUT OUR CLUB
We have been around for over 20 years. The club started as a group known as ‘Manurewa Masters’, an informal group, and have grown to where we are now, as “Counties Manukau Masters”. We promote ‘Fun, Fitness and Friendship’ which are also the principles of our parent organisation New Zealand Masters Swimming Incorporated. Our members range in age from 18 to 85+, with most members living in the Counties Manukau Region. We are the only masters club in Southern Auckland, with approximately 50 members. We welcome new members and our growing membership is testament to our welcoming spirit.
OUR MEMBERS:
- We have a mix of swimmers at our training sessions. Some swim for fitness and fun. We also have enthusiastic members competing in various disciplines who are aiming at improvement in their chosen sports. Our members compete successfully in both in the pool and in open water competitions held through New Zealand.
Our resident coach is Jane Logan, who is immensely well respected in Counties Sports, with over thirty years swim coaching experience.
OUR SPORT:
- Counties Manukau Masters caters for a diverse range of people, from those looking to improve their fitness, to those who participate in pool based swim meets and open water – both sea and lake swimming events. There are local, regional, national and international events available where members can participate. We also have members who compete in the local social water polo league over the winter months.
OUR TRACK RECORD:
- Manukau Masters compete at most pool and open water events throughout the country and our club members often feature in the top of their age groups at these events; our club teams are consistently placed well in masters and open water club events. The club has in recent years twice won the Fulton Cup – the Auckland Club Championships, as well as holding the Jane Logan Trophy for the top club at our own skins swim meet. Members also compete successfully in the Stroke and Stride Series, the Kohi Summer Swim series and the State Ocean series.
OUR LOCALE:
- Members have access to 2 club training sessions a week (Wendesday nights and Saturday or Sunday Morning), at the Manurewa and Papakura pools. In addition two competitive tri squad sessions are available with the Papakura Tri Squad at the Massey Park Pool on Tuesday and Thursday Mornings.
AFFILIATION:
- The Manukau Masters Swimming Club is affiliated to the New Zealand Masters Swimming Association Inc., which is, in turn part of the New Zealand Swimming Federation and an affiliate of the FINA (La Federation Internationale de Nation) the governing body of International Swimming.
